Classic French Toast

Classic French Toast
Christopher Mohs

There is nothing more classic than french toast in the morning.  This is really your basic french toast, but here are a couple key things to make it extra special.  Be sure to use authentic french or vienna style bread, thickly cut to absorb all that great batter. Almond Extract, Vanilla and my staple of brown sugar round out this traditional recipe with all the extra accents that make this truly memorable.

Ingredients:

2 Extra Large Eggs
1 cup Skim Milk
1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
2 tsp Cinnamon
2 tbsp Dark Brown Sugar
1/4 tsp Almond Extract
1 loaf French Bread

Directions:

Slice french bread into 1 inch thick slices. In a large bowl, mix together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, almond extract, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Heat skillet to medium heat and lightly butter the pan. Place pieces of french bread into the batter to soak, then place on the skillet, cook 4-5 minutes each side. Continue til either batter or french bread is used up.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar, berries or syrup and enjoy.
